Welcome to Panafreeka.com. A contributor, facilitator and stimulator of intra-African trade. It’s no coincidence that our launch corresponds with the commencement of the African continental free trade area agreement (AfCFTA). By all accounts, this agreement should come into effect on the 01st of January 2021. On this day, fellow Africans should not only wish each other a happy and prosperous new year given the year that was in 2020 but they should take a moment to wish each other a happy, prosperous, collaborative and continental free trading as it symbolises “a new dawn” (to borrow from a speech of one of our presidents as well as the African Union chair, His Excellency Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa).
Given that we have followed the developments relating to the African Continental Free Trade Area closely since 2018, our objective as panafreeka is really to provide an additional voice that will add to the momentum and growth in the awareness around the affairs and opportunities of trading in Africa in this new era.
Our objective is to analyse, educate and explore opportunities while tracking developments and we hope to share with you information that will inspire you, information that could spark business ideas and opportunities to grow your existing business or even start a new business. We believe our contributions will enable fellow “panafreekans” i.e. current and future members of our community who are enthusiastic about the continent and it’s yet to be tapped potential to not only be aware but actively contribute and partake in the continental free trade activities and transactions.
We are not just about information. We are looking to take advantage of some of the opportunities of AfCFTA ourselves, however we feel the pie of opportunity is extremely large and so we are also willing to share the information. We hope you come on board not just as a subscriber but also as a contributor. Our ultimate goal is to build this platform into a community of people with complimentary values and ideologies that can participate and contribute in word and deed to the Africa with potential, the Africa we want and the Africa that’s possible.
